Are your parents divorced?
Sadly this is a truth all Canadians must live with, but when I walked into class and saw the questions about the average family in Canada compared to mine I instantly thought about how most families in my mind are all happy happy happy and so bonded and spend every friday night watching a Disney Pixar movie together. But when you search up the amount of single parents homes as well as common-law parents with kids... the results are quite shocking. Back in 2011 the Canadian census recorded the numbers being 1,567,910 of common-law couple families as well as 1,527,840 lone-parent families. Also what is more shocking is the fact that the Canadian government says that sadly the numbers are going up. Compared to this my family does differ from this shocking fact, because just yesterday my parents celebrated their twenty-sixth anniversary. but yet still the average Canadian family might not be quite the family we think. But more so a couple of individuals who have made poor choices forcing them to become divorced, and making their children and all the close friends and family around them have to deal with these issues and hardships for the rest of their lives. Overall the average Canadian family is far from what I would assume to be what we think is the"dream family". Sadly though this is a depressing and poor truth that we all must live with, and the only way for things to get any better is to not make quick decisions forcing you into a poor situation such as a failing marriage when you are older.

It really is unfortunate that divorce is so common in Canada today. When you look back at our parents generation as kids, there would only be a maximum of one kid in each class with divorced parents. But now, it's rare to find a class with maybe 4 kids with parents still together. What is the cause of the sudden divorce spike? Maybe people are in such a rush to find someone, they aren't taking to time to see who their significant other really is. People are just in a rush to be loved.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen victim to this. When I was 4 my parents got divorced. I was so young and didn't really understand what was going on and the impact this would have on my life. It truly is a terrible thing that happens to people and especially for me I just try and live my life the best I can. A big reason my parents got divorced was my dad had diabetes and suffered from depression and he made it hard on us. Divorce doesn't always mean
ReplyDeletethe two people hate each other, it just means that living life apart would be best.
