Cultural Codes

I was watching a news show and the story was about another women claiming that Bill Cosby had slipped something into her drink a few years ago, and in the story they describe what she was wearing when she went to the police. Why should that matter? How is what she is wearing related to the story at all? It is stuff like this that stops people from getting justice. Why should what she is wearing make what she is saying more or less valid? In our society, women have strict codes we have to follow otherwise even the law won't take a seriously. We have to dress "appropriately" at all times, we are not allowed to own our sexuality because men are the sexual beings and women are the sexual "objects", when we enter a male dominated activity, weather it be a hobby or job, we are ridiculed for it.  Dress codes impose strict rules for what girls can and cannot wear and society doesn't teach boys that girls are people too. We are taught to cover up and be ashamed of our bodies. People believe that we live in a society free from strict cultural codes but from what I can see, we have just become immune to the effect that it has on us.
